A collection of my original characters.
Sometimes, while drifting off to sleep, my imagination runs amok and starts seeing little fellas. Maybe I should contact my doctor…
After waking up, I tend to warm up for work by designing the characters and looking back to admire my new little personality extension for the week.
Pon-Chu
Pon-Chu is a character I made for my first-ever Dungeons and Dragons campaign with friends.
Without getting too nerdy, he’s a gloopy sorcery creature, which sounds absolutely ridiculous… and it is. But DnD is a perfect excuse for me to practice my character and organic modelling, which is not my strongest suit as I’m predominantly a CAD-based designer.
Modelled in just shy of two hours before my session, he lacks texturing and smaller details, but seeing as he may be printed and painted in the future as a mini-figure, I spent more time establishing the silhouette and equipment. With the idea being that the painting of the figure would bring out more textures on the fabric elements.
Bat-holomew
A devilish bat with a guilty conscience. A draft concept character/mascot for a YouTube channel.
This project was ultimately shelved as the client decided to go in another direction with the YouTube channel, but I liked the character so much that I’ve decided he’s earned a spot here.
A simple brief to create a simple mascot that looks like a bat with horns and an angel halo (optional shark hat). This model is fully rigged and posable, ready to be used for, albeit, rudimentary animation.
Foggie
This model, Foggie, is less of a last-second gift and more of a thoughtful pre-planned gift that took me quite a while to design.
Not because of the design of the character itself, but more so because I wanted to print this model out as a poseable figure using ball joints. Having never done that before, there was a long testing and prototype phase trying to get tolerances perfect, along with a good range of movement.
Pictured is the final prototype where I was able to get the ball joints perfect for posing before printing a larger-scale model with all accessories seen in the character sheet!
